The Teams

Firebirds 10U – Palazzo
Our goals are to stress fundamentals, conditioning, understanding of the game, and sportsmanship as the team evolves into a cohesive unit. Our expectation is that players, as well as, their families are highly-motivated to succeed, and in turn, we will be the conduit to nurture that success through solid hands-on instruction and emphasis on a “Team First” concept.

Firebirds 12U – Mrowka
Our team provides our players a consistent opportunity to develop as athletes and people.  Practices will  include a mix of individual skill development, unit-work, game repetitions and physical development (strength & speed).  All team workouts will have elements of mental toughness and approach infused in the teaching.  We will try to help them become better learners (be coachable) and competitors (how to compete).  Although we will aspire to win all of our games, we will never do so by hindering player development or the positive experience that this game provides.   Focus, listen & learn ... hustle, compete to win, never quit!

Head Coach Steve Mrowka has over 25 years of softball and baseball coaching experience. Previously he was the head baseball coach at George Washington University and Georgia College & State University, and has over 600 career wins as a college head coach. He is currently the Athletic Director and head softball coach at Northern Virginia Community College.  Joining Coach Mrowka is assistant coach Bruce Brasher, who brings nearly a decade of experience as a successful travel softball coach in Northern Virginia.
