After finishing the fall by winning 18 of 21 games, Firebirds 14U-Sable dominated in their first complete tournament of the spring, going 6-0 over the weekend en route to the USSSA Diamonds R 4Ever 14U Open championship. They outscored their opponents 38-8 over the weekend. Kaylie DeChicchis pitched four games, giving up just 9 hits and 3 earned runs, while striking out 24 over 18 innings. Alli Goetz paced the offense with a home run and 7 RBI for the tournament.


In the championship game, the Firebirds were down 2-1 entering the bottom of the fourth. They put up 5 runs that inning and ran out the clock to claim the title. Maya Sable pitched four strong innings, giving up just 2 earned runs and striking out 7. Giada McGillin went 2-2 from the plate, driving in 3 runs.

Firebirds 14U-Sable ended their fall season winning 18 of their last 21 games, capping it off with a Gold Bracket championship in the one-day Softball Nation Fall Shootout. The team went 4-0 for the day, outscoring their opponents by a combined 28-2. In the championship game, the Firebirds defeated the Hanover Hornets, 9-0. In the tournament, Kaylie DeChicchis went 3-0 in the circle, totalling 14.0 IP, 6 H, and 13 K. She didn't give up a single earned run. Natalia Rivera was one of many big bats, driving in 7 runs over 4 games.

Firebirds 14U-Sable played up this past weekend, and came home with the championship trophy in the USSSA Breast Cancer Awareness NIT 16U-B Gold Bracket division. The team went 6-0 over the weekend, outscoring their opponents 41-13. In the rain-shortened championship game, 14U-Sable defeated the Olney Cougars, 5-2. Kaylie DeChicchis posted a 1.37 ERA, with 14 strikeouts and only 2 walks, holding opponents to a .254 batting average over the weekend.
